The U.S. Department of Energy’s Home Energy Score

The Energize Delaware and Franklin Energy teams are pleased to announce that our Home Performance customers can now receive their official DOE-certified Home Energy Score within their HPwES assessment report! That’s right, our Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® Program has integrated the DOE’s Home Energy Score into our whole-home assessments delivering more value to our customers at no additional cost!

What is a Home Energy Score?

The Department of Energy’s Home Energy Score provides homeowners with a simplified scoring process that can be used to directly compare the energy usage of properties across all housing markets. Home Energy Score is designed to standardize the residential energy assessment process and help homeowners compare their energy usage to other homes in the area. Home buyers and sellers can use Home Energy Score to help determine the operating costs and true value of properties on the market.

Interested in Becoming a Home Energy Score Certified Assessor?

The Department of Energy requires candidates to hold a relevant and current credential from one of the residential trade organizations listed on the Home Energy Score website. Qualified candidates must complete a virtual training simulation designed to standardize the data collection process across all HES Assessors. Upon completion, the Franklin Team will administer an on-site mentoring session of your first Home Energy Score. The Franklin Team will continue to provide on-site support and quality assurance oversight from there. Please reach out to the Franklin Team if you are interested in becoming a Home Energy Score Certified Assessor!
