Partner Spotlight: Energy Services Group

Energize Delaware and Franklin Energy would like to recognize Energy Services Group for the comprehensive energy assessments and install work they continue to provide our Home Performance customers. A home energy assessment is an important first step in converting your home into a healthier and more energy efficient living space. It is the Energy Auditor’s job to identify a home’s underperforming parts and to provide the homeowner with cost-effective solutions. Jon Di Pasquale and the Energy Services Group team have been executing these practices at a high level for many years as a HPwES contractor.

Jon recently performed an assessment for a Wilmington family and did a fantastic job not only recommending energy improvements for the home, but also pointing out major health & safety issues. His assessment report noted what appeared to be mold growth on the roof rafters. He provided the customer with recommendations to remediate the mold and prevent it from returning. Jon prescribed having the areas treated with mold remediation spray and replacing the attic’s current ventilation fan with a humidity sensor-controlled fan. During his inspection, he also discovered bathroom exhaust fans venting into the attic space. He recommended they be vented out of the home to prevent moisture build up in the attic and explained how this would help prevent the mold issue from worsening over time.

Since Jon completed his energy assessment of the home, this family has taken steps to remediate the existing mold and are taking measures to prevent mold growth in the future. They have moved forward with his recommendations to insulate, air seal, and replace their existing furnace and AC systems with high-efficiency units. Energy Services Group’s crew air sealed the client’s attic and basement spaces to reduce air infiltration. By sealing these high priority areas, they were able to reduce the homes overall leakage by 30%, improving the efficiency and comfortability of the home. They insulated both the upper and lower attic flats with 13 inches of blown fiber wool insulation and treated the knee wall with closed-cell spray foam. SchagrinGas Company, another longstanding HPwES contractor, replaced the client’s aging 80% induced draft furnace and 9 SEER AC unit with a 96% sealed combustion furnace and a 16 SEER AC system for the home. These projects generated $4,100 in Energize Delaware HPwES incentives for the homeowner!
