HPwES is growing and changing—Franklin Energy’s Delaware team has expanded and had promotions:

Jerry Spaulding

Jerry has accepted a position as the Program Manager for HPwES. He was previously the WAP State Program Monitor for Delaware.  Prior to his return to the state, he was managing a Weatherization & Healthy Homes Program for the city of Providence, RI. He is excited to become more involved with the contractors and help make 2019 a prosperous year.

Angie Bivens

Angie was recently promoted to Administrative Lead for the Home Energy Counseling & Checkup (HEC2) program. HEC2 is the newest program in the suite of Energize Delaware. This program will provide energy education for low to moderate income Delawareans through workshops, one-on-one counseling and in-home counseling. Angie will still assist with HPwES tasks, but as she focuses more on HEC2, Traci Evans will become the main resource for HPwES-related questions.

Traci Evans

Traci is the newest hire on the HPwES team. Her role as Program Coordinator will include handling customer phone calls, paperwork and contractor support. She is a graduate of University of Maryland with a degree in Environmental Management. She worked as an Environmental Scientist III for Delaware’s Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control for eight years. She also has experience working within Delaware’s weatherization program. She was a member of the State’s Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Team; was a Certified Hazardous Materials Technician; is certified by OSHA and HAZWOPER; and is a licensed Emergency Vehicle Operator. Fun fact: Traci played soccer since she was 4 years old and has traveled to five different countries to play the sport.

Krist Matthew

Krist brings a wealth of knowledge to the team. He was hired to the Energy Advisor II position after the departure of Peter Pasholk. Krist is a veteran of the U.S. Navy and graduate of Delaware Technical Community College with an associate’s degree in Energy Management. He is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Energy & Sustainability Policy at Penn State University, which he will attain in May. He has been actively involved in energy efficiency and weatherization throughout the state of Delaware, and has a passion for energy education and teaching others how to become more energy efficient in their homes. He has his BPI Building Analyst and Air Leakage Control Installer certifications. Fun fact: Krist also has an associate’s degree in Culinary Arts and was a chef for several years before transitioning into the energy- efficiency field.

Dan McBrien

Dan may be new to the team, but he is “energized” to begin field work. He graduated from Penn State University’s University Park campus in 2014 with his bachelor’s degree in Energy, Business & Finance as well as his bachelor’s degree in Economics. Over the following four years, he worked as a financial analyst for an auditing company within the healthcare industry. He has also spent time working on the sales team of a Philadelphia-based distributor of EV charging stations. New to the industry, he is looking forward to furthering his understanding of home efficiency and the opportunities that exist for Delaware residents. Fun fact: Dan is an aspiring bluegrass musician.

Tyler Tallman

Also a graduate of Penn State University with a bachelor’s of science degree in Energy Engineering, Tyler is a veteran on the team and has been with the program since Franklin Energy became the program implementer. Beginning in 2019, he is fulfilling an expanded role to include field work such as Quality Control assessments for the HPwES program as well as account-maintenance duties. He has a great eye for details and a perseverance to help the program’s customers and participating partners.
