Franklin and Energize Delaware would like to recognize Energy Efficient Earth, a strong participant within our HPwES program for many years. A recent job of theirs caught our eye, which we feel demonstrates their dedication to the spirit of this program.

While finishing up a weatherization project in New Castle County, the crew found themselves just short of their air-sealing target. Energy Efficient Earth’s crew leader, Shane Fair, identified a major leak coming from a first-floor return register. The only way to address the leak involved cutting into the dry wall. With the customer’s approval, Shane cut into the dry wall to find the customer’s fireplace chase wide open to the wall cavity leading to this return register. Practicing blower-door-guided air sealing, Shane sealed the leak coming from the chase with foam board and restored the dry wall. The final blower-door test proved these efforts to be worthwhile, and they achieved their air-sealing target and also satisfied a customer.

Now that is what we call going above and beyond—way to go, guys!
